Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Project Management Office (PMO), the Portfolio Governance role is accountable to set standards and strategies for portfolio governance and for the Projects Department and ensure adherence.  Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Portfolio & Project Governance - 40%:

  • Build upon and create the KSPC Governance structure in order to ensure adequate information flow, reporting, change management, quality controls, and relevant Delegation of Authority (DOA) approval exists within the project. 

  • Lead, enforce, and provide strategies for project governance and portfolio management  

  • Define, assign and ensure adherence to appropriate KSPC and K+S corporate governance, stage gate models and processes, ensure compliance with the K+S Organization Handbook as well as the K+S Group Project Management Handbook. 

  • Review project and portfolio management activities to ensure KSPC at all times is in compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental regulatory and internal laws and policies 

  • Perform and / or stand-up required quality assurance and control activities (e.g. project intake, gate reviews, internal audits, etc.), providing recommendations to correct deficiencies or control risks, and reporting project quality performance Ensure Projects Department adherence to and continuous improvement of departmental Management Operating Systems (MOS) 

Portfolio Level Risk Coordination - 20%:

  • Develop and maintain standards, procedures and templates for project and portfolio risk management and quality assurance; facilitate and monitor compliance 

  • Consolidate Projects department risks and escalate risks to enterprise level as appropriate 

  • Develop and maintain procedures for project risk management; facilitate and monitors compliance 

  • Support project and portfolio risk identification & evaluation, preparation of risk mitigation plans, monitoring, and close-out 

  • Liaise with enterprise risk team and contractors/consultants to incorporate risks in portfolio planning and project closeout. 

  • Ensure project and portfolio risk assessments have taken place and risks are elevated appropriately to enterprise level 

Methodology Centre (incl. Knowledge & Information Management) - 40%:

  • Document and enforce the KSPC and K+S Stage Gate Process 

  • Establish, maintain, communicate and enforce project framework, procedures, processes, quality standards and associated systems  

  • Provide central guidance and monitoring on system setup and use (SharePoint, Teams, Folders, naming convention, etc.) 

  • Consolidate, maintain and communicate repository of lessons learned to promote continuous improvement 

  • Develop standards and practices relating to management of change (MOC) 

  • Coordinate formal communication, training and roll-out of new standards and processes for Projects department 

  • Develop an internal non-conformance process related to violations of established policies, regulations, standards, and procedures.

Requirements

Your Profile

Our company values and recognizes the diversity of the workforce and encourages individuals with the equivalent combination of education and work experience. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3-year diploma  

  • University Degree – Bachelors; program or area of specialization – bachelor’s degree in commerce, science, engineering, information technology or mathematics 

  • Preferred certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or other relevant certification.

  • 8-12 years’ industry  experience; heavy industrial process setting preferred 

  • 8+ years’ technical and  project management experience preferred 

  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Proven ability to build and maintain productive stakeholder relationships 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in fostering business-focused collaboration, aligning cross-functional teams and driving projects to successful completion 

  • Aptitude for facilitating knowledge sharing within teams and across departments 

  • Proficient in understanding the business of projects, ensuring alignment of project objectives with overarching organizational goals and delivering measurable value to stakeholders 

  • Demonstrated ability in systems-level thinking 

  • Adept at leading organizational transformations through change management 

  • Proficient in data-driven decision-making and business intelligence, leveraging analytical tools and methodologies to enable informed strategic decisions, optimize processes and drive continuous improvement 

  • Possess strong business and financial acumen 

  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives 

  • Proven ability in designing and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies, resulting in reduction of potential project and portfolio threats 

Employment is subject to successfully completing KSPC's pre-employment checks which may include criminal record check, education verification, and drug & alcohol testing.

This opportunity can be located at the Saskatoon head office or the Bethune mine.
