Your Responsibilities
The Maintenance Civil / Structural Engineer is responsible for general civil / structural design and analysis for the Bethune site. The position supports the Maintenance, Production and Mining departments to resolve technical issues, completes design for maintenance according to a management-of-change process, coordinates interfaces between internal resources and external technical bodies, and provides oversight for Bethune’s Structural Integrity Program.
The Maintenance Civil / Structural Engineer will take a leadership role for the discipline on site and will be responsible for driving sound and standardized design and maintenance practices for civil / structural assets.
Provide Technical Support (50% of focus):
Provide repair plans for civil / structural infrastructure in accordance with the In-Service Inspection and Maintenance workflows. This involves support both within and outside of planned equipment outages.
Particular areas of practice include, but are not limited to, mechanical and process equipment structures, structural steel, structural vibration and failure, buildings, drainage, erosion mitigation, structural foundations, and concrete structures
Support maintenance personnel by providing discipline support for job planning purposes (i.e. lift plans)
Complete Design, Development and Implementation (20% of focus):
Conduct structural design and analysis for small installations such as pipe supports, lifting aids, and basic structural modifications
Coordinate and/or review design for more extensive or complex designs
Review and/or develop engineering, drawings and documents in terms of feasibility, standards, codes, and K+S quality requirements
Work within the Management-of-Change process
Collaborate with colleagues to maintain and update K+S Bethune site design specifications and core documents for civil / structural scope
Coordinate Bethune Structural Integrity Program (30% of focus):
Oversee structural inspections in accordance with Bethune’s Structural Integrity Program, including structural steel, monorails and anchor points
Periodically review and manage changes to the Integrity Program as appropriate
Compile annual Integrity report for Saskatchewan Mine Safety Unit

Your Profile
Our company values and recognizes the diversity of the workforce and encourages individuals with the equivalent combination of education and work experience. The ideal candidate will have:
Civil / Structural Engineer (B. Sc. or M.. Sc, with ability to register as EIT or P. Eng. with APEGS) with 5 – 8 years of experience.
OR Civil / Structural Technologist (A. ScT ) with 10 – 15 years of experience.
Structural experience is valued over Civil, as the issues at Bethune are primarily structural in nature.
Experience in structural analysis and design in accordance with OH&S, NBCC, and CSA codes and standards.
Knowledge of alloy steel and welding applications, structural steel coatings, corrosion mechanisms, structural dynamics and fatigue, industrial building design, rigging and hoisting practices, crane-supporting steel structures considered an asset.
Basic understanding of site development, drainage, grading, site utilities, erosion control, pond and containment, and roadway design considered an asset.
Strong written and verbal skills in English.
Strong meeting facilitation skills.
Potash experience is preferred.
Employment is subject to successfully completing KSPC’s pre-employment checks which may include criminal record check, education verification, functional fitness evaluation and drug and alcohol testing.
