Hessian schools awarded

K+S supports MINT

Kassel, 22.11.2019
Today, the "MINT Zukunft schaffen" ("Creating a MINT Future") initiative awarded 48 schools in Hesse the "MINT-friendly school" award. The award is presented under the sponsorship of the Kultusministerkonferenz (KMK – conference of education ministers). K+S, as the host of the event in Kassel, supports the award and emphasizes its own efforts to more strongly promote MINT occupations and apprenticeships. Furthermore, 11 schools were honored as "Digital Schools".

In his welcoming speech, Joachim Hüttenrauch, Head of Human Resources Europe at K+S, said: "Like other companies, K+S must do a great deal to attract many new apprentices every year. The enthusiasm and interest in MINT topics should be fostered at a very early stage and further promoted at school. Your students are the specialists of tomorrow".

Numerous MINT initiatives at K+S

Since 2013, K+S has been an official partner of the nationwide "MINT Zukunft schaffen" initiative and has already been awarded the "MINT Minded Company" title several times for its MINT commitment. The company promotes both MINT talents and projects. One of the most important projects is the MINT Ambassadors Initiative, in which K+S employees in kindergartens, schools and universities report on their profession in order to attract young people to MINT professions. Mentoring programs as well as various events such as the evening of open training, Technology Day, etc. round off the broad profile of MINT measures at K+S. The company offers a variety of apprenticeships and dual courses of study in the MINT field. More information can be found at: www.kpluss.com/en-us/career/

MINT refers to mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology.

About "MINT Zukunft schaffen"

The initiative aims to provide learners and teachers in schools and universities as well as parents and entrepreneurs with an understanding of the diverse development perspectives, future designs and practical relevance of MINT education and to serve as a multiplication platform for all MINT initiatives in Germany that are already working successfully. "MINT Zukunft schaffen" promotes MINT studies, MINT professions and MINT training and informs the public about the urgency of MINT commitment. Above all, however, "MINT Zukunft schaffen" wants to create enthusiasm for MINT together with its partners and provide information about attractive career opportunities in the MINT professions.
