The site at a glance
Since the discontinuation of crude salt extraction and processing in 1994, rolling and press granulates have been produced at the plant from raw materials supplied by the sister plants. The site is an important building block in the implementation of K+S's specialty strategy.
At present, about 50 different products (mainly granulated potash and magnesium single fertilizers as well as various special products) are manufactured from intermediate products delivered worldwide via two production lines into roll and pressed granulates.
The other core competencies lie in logistics as well as in process and product development. A separate granulation laboratory is available for product and process development.
The highly flexible logistics facilities are based, among other things, on the central transportation hub. The plant is located directly at the North/South and East/West junctions in Lower Saxony for rail and road traffic and also has its own port on the Midland Canal. The plant offers numerous services especially for regional fertilizer land sales.
With around 150 employees, the Bergmannssegen-Hugo plant is one of the most important regional employers and ensures stable and sustainable added value by refining the primary products in the surrounding area. In addition, the plant regularly awards contracts for supplies and services to companies in the surrounding area, thus providing the economic basis for a large number of regional jobs. Its social commitment applies to social institutions, associations and societies.
